After Hours ATM deposit

#1

Hi there, anyone know why BNZ keeps removing the key lock for the ATM after hours deposit door? The key made it much quicker, as you don’t need your card or PIN, or different cards for different accounts. It also works when the ATM is down for maintenance. The key slot was gone in the Christchurch Airport and Barrington Mall for example, but the store staff don’t know what happened or why it was gone.
Thanks

Hi @YY,

I’ve checked in with the ATM team who let me know some of the reasons we’re moving toward card activation:

  • It leaves an electronic footprint, which is especially helpful if anything goes wrong. For example we can trace a card activated bag that had missing details.
  • We can better assess the demand for the service.
  • Deposit cards are more suitable for the majority of customers than keys.
